Faithful Community Events

Announcements for the upcoming week:

• The front office will be closed on Monday, May 26^th in honor of Memorial Day.

• The Singles Ministry will be meeting on Monday, June 16^th at 6pm in the portables. Bring your thoughts and ideas to help us grow. If you would like more information, please contact Sis Shanklin at 432-254-0011.

• The deadline to turn in applications for scholarships is Friday, May 30^th. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Be a member of Westside Baptist Church.

2. Be actively engaged in at least one ministry auxiliary. [example: choir, usher, mime team]

3. Be a graduating high school senior.

4. Accepted to an accredited college or university beginning summer/fall 2025.

   Submit required documents:

1.    Application

2. Essay

           3. Letters of Recommendation

           4. High School Transcript - Copy

           5. College Acceptance Letter - Copy

• We need a team of members for our Child Evangelism Fellowship Team at Iduma Elem School to teach children about Jesus. For more information, please see Sis Jones , Sis Verna Tolbert, or Rev Jones.

• Sis McGahee will be having a free 5-week infant massage session at the Early Childhood Intervention bldg. located at 1007 South Ann Blvd in Harker Heights. For more information, please contact her at 254-674-0427.

• Combine your faith and dance to glorify God through movement. Faith First Dance Initiative is hosting a summer scripture-based ballet, contemporary, jazz, and worship class for multiple age groups and experience levels this summer from Monday, June 9^th – Friday, June 13^th. For more information, please see the flyer in the foyer. 

• We need a team of members for our Child Evangelism Fellowship Team at Iduma Elem School to teach children about Jesus. For more information, please see Sis Jones, Sis Verna Tolbert, or Rev Jones.

• VBS is fast approaching! Don’t forget to sign up to be a VBS volunteer. We are seeking teachers, helpers, and more. We are also starting VBS registration. The volunteer sign-up and registration forms are located in the foyer.

• Save the date! Our very own Sister Kelci Ellis is hosting “Evolutionary Love” a spiritual black woman empowerment 2-day workshop. This event will take place at the Killeen Civic Center on October 31^st and November 1^st. Tickets go on sell March 1^{st ,} there is limited seating.  For more information, please see the front office.

• If you are an auxiliary leader, and have not taken the stewardship training course, please sign-up for the course on the sign-up sheet located in the foyer.

• The Evangelism Team needs your help! They are requesting one member from each Auxiliary to join their team! They are also looking for men join. If you are interested, please see Reverend Dr. Rosebur.

• The van ministry is looking for drivers to help with Sunday School, and Wednesday Bible Study pickup. Drivers must be responsible drivers with a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Please see Deacon Barrett if you are interested.

• We’ve created a Westside Job/Skillset Directory to help our members who may need said services. Anyone who is interested in signing up for our Westside Job/Skillset directory or in need of more information or guidance, please text Brother Booker (512) 960-7423. The directory is located in the foyer

• All announcements and cards are due by noon each Wednesday. Your announcement and cards MUST be turned into the office for approval.

Things to remember:

• The Discipleship study class will be held each Tuesday for the new members and anyone wishing to attend, at 6pm in the Fellowship Hall. POC is Rev Jones at 254-449-0507 and Sis Jones at 254-449-0505.
• Our Westside food pantry is now open every 3^rd Wednesday from 11am to 2pm.
• Anyone interested in helping at the Killeen Food Bank, pls meet here every 2^nd Saturday at 8am.
• Youth Announcements can be emailed to: westsideyouth1@yahoo.com
• Ministers’ Wives will meet on the 3^rd Saturday at 10am. Please contact Sis Jones for the location at 254-449-0505.
• The Children’s Church and the Westside Angels Children Church is held every 2^nd, 4^th, and 5^th Sundays.
• The Nursing Home Ministry meets at Killeen Rehab every 2^nd and 4^th Saturday.
• New members class is located in portable 3E every Sunday at 9:45am.
